| This page is designed to honor and pray for all military personnel serving our nation in any capacity. We invite you to submit names of friends, relatives, and neighors, for inclusion in this prayer site. When you scroll down, you will see the names of over 200 members of the military whose names have seen sent to this site or added to the posted list in the perpetual adoration chapel at Saint Charles Church. | Prayer for The Troops "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." -John 14:27 Father, we approach You as the Most High God. We declare that You are the Creator of all things. You set the boundaries of the sea, and stretched out the heavens above. When You act Lord, no one can reverse it, and there is no one who can deliver out of Your hand. We ask Lord that Your mighty hand of protection would be with our troops, that You would surround them with Your favor as a shield. Bless them in the land, and do not surrender them to the desire of their foes. I pray that Your hand of protection would guard them from chemical and biological agents. Give our soldiers wisdom in staying clear of these weapons, and thwart the plans of the enemy to use them. I ask for discernment in separating civilians from soldiers. Help our troops to protect the innocent, and to watch over the needy as they liberate the Iraqi people. Go before them Lord as they press into the battle and be their rear guard. Surround them with songs of deliverance, and keep them from the hands of the enemy. In Jesus name, Amen. |

The following poem/prayer is quoted from the book "AN INLAND SEE - A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF BURLINGTON", written by Howard Coffin, published in 2001 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, page 84. It ended the Masses celebrated by Chaplain Rev. John P. Maloney, chaplain for Vermont's 172nd Regiment (43rd Infantry Division) and was read at his funeral long after the end of the war. "OH GOD OF POWER AND LOVE, MAKE ME A SOLDIER WORTHY OF THE GREAT CAUSE IN WHICH I FIGHT. GIVE ME STRENGTH WHEN THE GOING IS HARD. GIVE ME COURAGE WHEN DANGER IS NEAR. LEAD ME THROUGH THE PERILS OF THIS WAR TO THE PEACE OF THAT BETTER WORLD TO WHICH WE HAVE DEDICATED OUR LIVES. BUT IF THIS SERVICE TO YOU AND TO MY COUNTRY CALLS FOR THE SACRIFICE OF MY LIFE, I ASK ONLY THAT YOU BE WITH ME IN THAT HOUR, CONFIDENT THAT YOUR PEACE AWAITS ME IN ETERNITY". |
